Puerto Rican Carne Frita (Fried Pork Chunks)

This delicious authentic Puerto Rican carne frita recipe is so delicious! The crispy fried pork chunks are seasoned with adobo, oregano, and paprika. A delicious family favorite served with rice, beans, or plantains!

Ingredients

  • 1 ½ lbs pork country-style ribs or pork shoulder
  • 1 tsp adobo seasoning
  • 1 tsp paprika
  • 1 tsp oregano
  • 1 tsp turmeric
  • Oil for frying

Instructions

  • Cut pork into 1-inch chunks.
  • Season with adobo, paprika, oregano, and turmeric and mix well.
  • Heat 1 inch of oil in skillet over medium heat.
  • Fry chunks 4 minutes per side until golden brown.
  • Check temperature (150°F+). Drain on paper towel.
  • Serve with rice, beans, or dipping sauce.

Air Fryer option: Cook the pork chunks in the air fryer at 400°F for about 25 minutes, flipping halfway.
