Our lives revolve around our faith! It is the most important thing to us. Along with that faith, we have values that we consider to be very important. We want to be able to offer our children with an education that embedded and supported our faith without the constant battle of defending it. Also, we want to โ€œteach our kids in the way they should go so that when they are older they will not stray from it.โ€ We want the years that we get with our children in our home to be the ones where we cultivate our faith and our children can form their strong roots.

We wanted our kids to feel valued as individuals, comfortable with who they are, and free to choose who they want to be as adults without the constant bombarding of others telling them what they should be or how they should think. We want our children to focus on the things they want to learn more about and further explore their interests.

Why we Homeschool: FAMILY TIME

We are a family that genuinely loves spending time with each other. I love being with my husband and children and vice versa. We can never get back the time or days with each other. The kids will grow and form families of their own one day, so we want to savor all the moments we have with them and create special core memories that will last a lifetime.

I mean, who doesn’t love freedom? Homeschooling gives us the freedom to choose when, where, how, and with what our children will learn. We determine the schedule. In the article “Creating a Homeschool Schedule” I share with you all how we schedule our homeschooling days. This can look very different for every family. We can choose where learning happens. We are not restricted to a classroom and desk all day long. Our children can learn in the dining room, living room, outside, on the picnic table, at their grandparent’s house, or library. The opportunities are endless! We get to tailor their learning to their learning style. And we get to choose the curriculum! Our faith is so important to us, that we use the Abeka Homeschool Curriculum with a Christian worldview.

Whichever the reason may be as to why you are thinking about homeschooling or have chosen to homeschool, you must hold on to that reason very close to your heart because when you face difficult times, this will be your driving force!
